An Act of the Legislature approved on December 31, 1971 renamed the State Department as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and gave it
the mandate to serve as the principal formulator, interpreter and implementer of the foreign policy objectives of the Government of Liberia.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is responsible for conducting Liberia’s relations with other States and International Organizations. It protects as well as advances the Nation’s economic, political and commercial interest abroad and renders services to
Liberians overseas and foreigners who want to travel to Liberia.
