LFA PRESIDENT RAJI ASSUMES WAFU PRESIDENCY
CAF has confirmed the assumption of LFA President Mustapha Raji to the position of presidency of West Africa Zone A taking over from former president Mamadou Antonio Souare until its next General Assembly.
Raji, who has been the 1st Vice President of West Zone A will assume the position of presidency from former President Mamadou Antonio Souare whom he defeated at the CAF Congress in Morocco last March.
The position of the African governing football body is quoted in a communication signed by CAF General Secretary Veron Mosengo-Omba following the establishment of ‘’Normalization Committee’’ by FIFA at Federation Guinea Football (FEGUIFOOT) which Mr. Souare heads after FIFA sent a letter early June of this year asking it to freeze, ‘’until further notice’’ the election process for a new federation.
The establishment of normalization committee at FEGUIFOOT means a change in the presidency of the West Africa Zone A.
According to Article 19 paragraph 8 of the West Africa Zone A statutes ‘’if the president loses his position as President of his National Association, he automatically loses the position of president of the zone and is replaced by the 1st vice president.’’
An election for the post of president will have to be organized at the next General Assembly.
The Normalization Committee established by FIFA is to guarantee that FEGUIFOOT can hold transparent and fair elections as well as to help restore trust amongst all football stakeholders in Guinea.
